Default So I finally recovered my seat...

I made a post originally in July about using marine grade vinyl to recover my seat (click here for the post if you want). Anyway.. I finally got around to doing it. Thanks to everyone that helped with advice especially gotcbr who even sent me pics of his and links to read.

All in all, I think that it came out alright.. I will be trying the seat out within the next few days.. I still have the OEM one on the bike now. I purchased another seat off ebay for relatively cheap.. it had an ugly *** cover on it but the foam was fine..

Original seat:

Here is the completely recovered seat:

I ended up spending about $14 on vinyl and adhesive, $3 on staples, and about $35 for the seat. I still have my original seat which I might put away and recover in the future.. who knows...

I'm also tryin to decide if I want to put the original passenger grab handle strap on this seat.. as I never bring a passenger anyway... dunno if I want it on or not..

anyways.. I figured I'd update you guys as I'm sure you have been on pins and needles wondering how it went.. lol..

thanks everyone..

Nice work! Looks really good. Smooth idea doing a spare seat.
Far as the strap, I wouldn't bother. They are a second-rate answer to
passenger security and rarely used, I have found.

The girls who passenger, should be holding on to you. And really, who cares if your
buddy falls off, that's just another kegger story at the fire-side.

looks good. I did the same thing with my seat using marine grade flex vinyl and it turned out good as well. Very easy cheap fix to a torn or rotted seat.

I will get some tomorrow I think.. I've been ridin to work yesterday and today.. the seat is still sitting right here as I havent had a chance to put it back on the bike.

I still have enough leftover vinyl to recover it again.. it was pretty inexpensive.
