Should I trade him????
Here's the deal. I've been looking for my first cbr, but of course I've been waiting patiently for my quad to sell. I'm growing impatient and I have a guy that wants to trade straight up. My only concerns is that (a.) i'm not a big fan of the yellow, (b.) I was wanting something a little newer.
Here's the guy's bike. http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/1813540360.html
Here's my quad. http://huntington.craigslist.org/rvs/1828269656.html
They pretty much book even. Your thoughts? Should I hold out for what I really want or just trade him and be done with it and start my riding? Anything I should look out for on the f4's? Should I holdout for the f4i or rr?

how many miles on the bike and how are the tires and brakes on it, looks like its been down at least once even tho he said never laid down maybe it tipped over, is the any other damage on it from other drops or was it just that one, have to check it out on how it runs any ticks brake chatter or any other unusual noises? i know he said it has new tires but youd have to look at em to see if they actually are, those are great bikes tho i started out on one same year and everything, very reliable bike i bought it with 10,000 miles on it in 2004 and i beat the crap out of it till i traded it in for a new one in 09 it had 45000 miles on it the dealership gave me $2000 for it on trade in. only thing it needed besides regular maintance stuff was a fuel pump which was 150 bucks at a shop at about 34000 miles. and i redid the clutch at 38000 miles. if the tires and brakes are good and runs strong and true and no clutch slip if you go check it out then go for it if you want to get into a bike, great first time bike right there, only thing im curious about is if those are the origianl plastics only reason i ask is because i cant see the F4 graphic on the side fairings, and if they arent the original why were they replaced?

That's a tricky one... that quad could probably go for 3-4k depending on interest that's out there and I'd almost say that's a little much for that bike. I'm seeing F4i's going for 3.5-4k around my neck of the woods so I'd be hesitant to trade him straight up for a carb'd bike. If it were a F4i I'd say go for it but as it is its in that gray area where I'm just not sure.
I'd say its a function of the market. If the market for quads is soft and the market for bikes is strong, go for it. If its the opposite and you can get good money for the quad, sell it and go buy a bike with the cash.

I sold my F4 for $3k last month, and my bike had 26k miles and it had been laid down previously...to me thats a good deal, I doubt you will find anything better...trades most the time you will only get offered junk, you would be better off trying to sell and buying what you want. but as far as trades go I think its a good deal.

Nice looking bike N8 but IMO that quad is worth more than the f4 the guys trying trade for and I would hold out for a f4i or any other good shape fuel injected bike. The f4 is a nice bike and I liked mine, but nothing beats the simplicity of turning the key and riding. Carbs just require more maintenance.
