wasn't my idea to go to the range, that was gotcbr , it has a pistol grip and an external mag, which for some reason ca politicians seem to think is the determining factor for an assault rifle??? I guess the bolt has nothing to do with it.
I know ca doesnt allow .50 cal weapons but im not sure about .338 lm My friend tried to get one and ended up having another friend who lived in Nevada get it for him. (maybe not legal but we arn't exactly hunting the deadliest animal).

Interesting distinction on assualt rifle - at least there is criteria though. Deciding if something is restricted, non-restricted or prohibited here is completly random. (ie. many new "assult rifles" are non-restricted, older designes like the AR-15 are restricted, and AK-47's and FAL or similar are prohib)
