Default RPM and gas questions

1) Does anyone know if using gas that has 10% ethanol added could damage your engine?
2) What RPM range do you keep the engine at when just cruising down a side road? What RPM do you suggest when making a 90 degree corner? How bad is it to never really get past 8K RPM on a ride?

I ride a 02 F4i with Two Bros slip on. Thanks.

Default RE: RPM and gas questions

I usually roll at about 7 or 8 grand when just cruising, I like to feel like the power is right there if I need it, and I like the sound of my pipe, lol.

As far as cornering it's different for each corner and I don't pay attention to my tech in them, but I'd say I keep it at about the 7 to 8 grand area accellerating through the corner, I do notice if I come in at lower RPMs the bike doesn't feel as stable and stuck to a line.

1, I will splash some ethanol in my tank at the start of the season just to get the water out of the gas, As far as using it every day, I would not, might lean out the motor. If you are worried, run a higher Octane. 2. Cruise around just at the power band. That way if **** heads south, you have enough power to get out of the space you are occupying on the road, Or to use the compression to help with breaking. Its not a good Ideal to let the revs fade, because you don’t want a bus (or something) to pull out and not have enough power to slide past it.

I cant think of a gas station around me that doesnt lace their gas with 10% ethanol anymore... i thought it was standard practice nowadays.

10% will not hurt your bike at all..........however anything MORE than that will eventually have negative effects on the aluminum in your engine. (so i hear...........)
10% will also clean out any gunk in your tank/injectors, etc.........it's a good idea to run a tank of it if you stored it poorly over a winter.

As for a 90 turn? Well it depends entirely on how tight it is. A 90 degree corner that stretches a 1/2 mile will likely be taken at a high rate of speed.........a 90 turn as in a corner at a stop sign......well obviously slower as it tight. It depends.
