Reusing Rotor Bolts
Hi all - Im replacing the old rotor and pads on rear of my F4 - I read that its not recommended to re-use the old rotor bolts.
Ive found a new set for £15. Im asuming its best to be safe than sorry as brakes are pretty important. Any info/advice appreciated. |
I reused mine (which already came well used) at least 10 times maybe more before the last bolt I was torquing snapped, leaving the body of the bolt recessed inside the wheel. While extracting I had to drill very carefully as to not damage the threads on the wheel. Promptly replaced all of them as a set after. I don't think its a big deal to reuse them (especially if new) a couple times, but if yours look well used I would just replace them, what with how old our bikes are getting including all the bolts on them, not worth the risk for how cheap and easy the job is

Hi there - Thanks for the info - I'll get some new bolts (better safe than sorry). The ones im looking at for £15 are Titanium, is this overkill?
|
I guess it depends on what you think is overkill. Probably wouldnt make a big performance improvement, think you'd shave more weight off by going to the loo haha. If thats the best deal you can find though why not. But I don't personally have any experience with ti rotor bolts
