Hey guys,

I'm trying to do my first chain adjustment since I got my CBR600F4. However, the rear axel nut will not come off, the person who sold me the bike obviously over-tightened it (I think). So with great, great effort, I can get the nut (27mm socket) to move in anti-clockwise direction. However, the bolt also moves with it (in clockwise direction). What I've ended up doing is using a screwdriver bit jammed between the outside of the nut and the swingarm to try to hold the nut in place while I try turning the bolt in clockwise direction. Boom, Armstrong socket wrench end snaps off ($50 sacrifice!). This is driving me "NUTS"! Any ideas? I am considering taking it to the shop for a "chain adjustment". How embarrassing.

 

Sounds like the used an air-wrench to tighten it up! Don't break any more tools. Take your bike down to the shop & simply ask them if they'll loosen it up for you. Shouldn't cost you anything & it'll give you another excuse to go to the shop. ;-)

 

Yeah and I had to buy the sockets specially for this (27 & 22mm). Spent like 70 bucks and still, the best I can do is strip the edges of the bolts since I'm leaning over the bike trying to hold one socket wrench in place while turning another - and they don't always stay in place.
