Power Loss/sound
CBR600f4, full yoshimura r-3 exhaust, stg 2 jets, k&N.
Hey guys. Bike has been running great until today. Took it to work yesterday and had an unexpected rainy day. My cover was at home so it sat in the rain for about 6 hours. Ran fine on the way home, all is good. Went to ride it today and after letting it warm up for about 15 mins whilei got ready, i took it out. After 4k rpms the exhaust note changes from the normal sound, to a lower grumble, and power is instantly lost. The bike still drives, but has no thrust like it normally does. This happens in every gear, and the same in neutral. Drove for about 20 mins after adding some fuel treatment and it would go away for a minute or two but then come back again. Only thing i can think of due to the circumstances would be somehow water got into the fuel? There is no noticable smoke coming from the exhaust. Any other ideas or things i should check on? Thanks in advance.

RE: Power Loss/sound
well i was gonna say the note could just be some water in your exhaust. ive had that before and u just rev it up and it comes out. but it idles and runs steady just doesnt have the throttle response? maybe its a possibility water got in some how. hmmm....maybe bumble bees right it will just need to run the tank to almost empty and let it dry out more. good luck man.

RE: Power Loss/sound
about 30 minutes after i made the first post i decided to go out and start it up one last time to see if it still had the problem. Revved right past 4k with no probs, took it out for a spin and all was well. 2 days later and the bike runs like a charm. I would guess possibly moisture/rain messing with the coils? Anywho, thanks for the replies!

RE: Power Loss/sound
I guess i was right. I have been riding off road for years and I'v seen it over 100 times with all kinda of vehicles. Water and electrical don't mix. I got my old Camry's engine wet one night and the car did not run right for a day and a half till it dryed out. If the problem does not come back then your fine till next rain LOL.
My last Honda qaud would not start after you washed it with the engine off for at least 24 hours, but if it was running duringthe wa**** was fine.
