Is this possible or just a bad idea?
Hey guys i have a friend that has about 3 F4i's and he offered me pretty much the entire head and whatever else i want from one of the bikes. He's a mechanic and said that i might be able to swap the heads out and change my 4 to fuel injected. He has everything i need to do it except for a head gasket and it wont cost me a dime. I was going to sell my F4 this winter but I'm thinking this could be a cool project and i could hang on to it for another few years if not forever. Is this a good idea or is this some craziness that i wont be able to do? I am mechanically inclined and i also have a few mechanic friends just in case i mess up. What do you guys think?

This is very much possible!!! boyo (he is not on much anymore) is doing it right now, he has done quite a bit to his engine including an F4i head. He hasn't FI'ed it but he plans too. next winter, funds depending, I plan on swapping to a megasquirt or other EMS and FIing mine... Just cuz. I need to dig up some old articles and I'l see if he cant hop on and let you know whats up.
Off the top of my head, I know that you can swap everything from the head up no problem; the F4i headers as well. If you want to FI the bike than I would recommend finding a wrecked bike off of ebay because you will need the wiring harness, EMS and a few other things; So you can part out the rest of the bike to recoup the expense. The F4i wheels are also lighter so you could swap to them and sell your F4 wheels as well.
Edit: to FI you would also need a new tank, throttle bodies, and a few sensors.
