Hello everyone out there in the CBR world.. This is my first Beater and let me say WOW very impresive, I had a 05 R1 and the CBR is much better and way more fun to ride....So now ill be looking into finding out how i can put more pOnies in her..

Any ideas would help.. Example is on the freeway she doesnt wake up till about 7-8 grand but im not always up there so what can be done to the mid to bottom area of the power band? thanks in advance..

Low end torque can be changed with new sprockets. Go -1 +2 and it will waken right up.

How long have you been riding? Best way to improve your bike, is to first improve yourself.

The first mods I do to a bike are brakes/suspension, then I go to work on horsepower.

What kind of riding do you do? Boring high-speed highway riding, or exciting twisty backroads?

Anybody can pin it on the highway, go learn how to handle the bike through the twisties. [8D]

Oh, and in-line 4's all have high powerbands, just keep it around 6500 cruising RPM.

You want torque around 3-5k, get a V-Twin

Ok thanks for the reply.. Bike already has sprockets (pic above) , and lets see questioning my riding i wouldnt say im a pro but i have 10 plus years under my belt. My ride consist of both boring highway to if i feel spunky highspeed twistys..

I never said i wanted a high speed monster, just a little bit more bottom end.. So questioning someones ability to ride should be more directed at " I WANT MORE SPEED, I WANNA GO FASTER" type of guy.. so again thanks...

Ah, I just took your name and figured you were some super green 18 year old noob, along with you calling a nice F4 a "beater"

I noticed your sprocket looked a bit bigger than stock but it's hard to count teeth in pixels

In all seriousness, first step is to make sure your air filter is good and your carbs are clean and set up right. You cant get good responsiveness if your engine is starving for air or fuel, or has too much or too little of one or the other.

I believe there is also something you can do with your exhaust, such as high mount vs low mount, and the length of the muffler (shorter = more low-end) But that's not something I'm very familiar with.

I also modified my airbox to allow smoother airflow, however, I'm not sure what kind of setup the F4 has, and I'm running an F2. I think the F3 and F4 have a ram-air system.

You could go to a K&N or BMC air filter to increase the airflow, but I dont think there's a noticeable increase in power, and going to an aftermarket air filter along with a different exhaust pipe may require you to re-jet your carbs.

Even after all of these mods are performed, your power will still be up above 7k RPM.

yea the name came from racing cars which i still do [8D]

I think thats my next step is looking underneath the "hood" tank and see what im dealing with.. believe it or not this bike has about 32000 miles and i dont no if the carbs been cleaned or not.. My only concern is i have to take the carbs off the bike to do this, cant i just run Race Fuel to clean things up!!

Well thanks for the advice and well get the "beater" running like a liter LOL..............
