As the title reads, I found a 2000 Honda CBR 600 F4 Silver and Red for sale at a dealership about 45 minutes from my house. It has 14,xxx miles, Chrome windscreen, Yoshimira slip on, Carbon Fiber Turn Signals, Carbon Fiber Triple Tree Cover, Levers and Mirrors, Red Anonized Pegs, and that's all that come to mind. The bike also has a brand new rear tire. I would say the bike is a 9-9.5 on a 1-10 scale, it has some about 3-4 tiny scratches and one really tiny dent on the top of the tank but you have to look for it. I didn't get to drive it but I started it and it sounded good, but was really bad cold natured. Is this common? I inspected the bike and from what I can tell it has not been laid down.
I think all the bike needs is set of bar ends, the stockers were kinda faded and one was loose. The place was asking $3,6XX.XX out the door, I offered them $3,000.00 and he didn't think that they could take that offer. So I thought about calling him up Tuesday when they open and offering him $3100.00 out the door. Does everybody think that would be a good price on this bike? If they take me up on the offer and I buy the bike and keep it a couple year and put a couple thousand miles on it should I be able to get $3100.00 out it 2 years down the road?
Please give me your feedback ASAP because I'm really wanting this bike!
Thanks in advance!
Derek

$3100 a few years later....maybe depending on the miles, I bought my 00 with 12,200 miles for $2500, it was fliped doing a wheelie but was all cosmetic and i fixed it all for less then $400
All the Honda shops I have been too, well any motorcycle shop I have been too doesnt do any deals, I offered a guy $200 less then the sticker price, had cash in hand and he said no, the sticker is the price...

Well that depends how bad you want it, and if you think you can find a better bike to look over and buy for less than the asking price. Tell them $3500 OTD and they change the bar ends. If that doesn't work, think long and hard where you will find another one. It may be around the corner and it may be never.

Yeah that's very true. The sales guy told me that I could prolly get it for around $3400-3450 but I would like to have no more than $3200 in it because I don't know who had it or how hard it's been run by the previous owner. If I can get them down to $3200 OTD and put no more than 2-3K miles on her within a year do you think I would be able to get that much money out of it a year from now? Thanks!

Not to sound like a jerk, but you are talking about a few hundred dollars. Not that much if you truely like the bike. I bought my 1999 F4 with 3900 miles on it for $3800, which was a pretty good steal. Bluebook no my bike was in the $4500 range. I love my bike more than anything else I own, and i will never sell it. I love it too much.
If you are worried about being able to sell the bike that bad in the next few years, maybe you should look at a different bike, one that isnt going to cost you anything to repair. A older twin would be way less expensive and would be easy to re-sell.
In the end, even if you pay $3500 dollars for it (which is a great deal especially with all the extras), you should be thankful and send the guy letters saying how sorry you are for practically stealing it from him. You will be able to sell that bike for around what you payed for it if you keep it nice and dont do anything harmful to it.

$3400 seems like a fair price for the bike with whats on it. If it was a steal the bike would have already been sold....and your not going to get a steal on any bike from the dealership, just remember that.
