MPG when speed limit is 85 mph

im just curious.. if i ever make it down to austin or houston.. if its like 300 miles of nothing and im going 90mph what would that do to my Fuel Econ.. ??

im hoping there is gas stations in that nothing ness because idk how a sport bike would go on if we only have a 150 mile range.. (obviously if its nothing the whole way) but if im going 90 wouldnt that suck up the gas like REALLY fast?

Sure, your gas mileage would be slightly less riding at a higher speed but not significantly.

On hwy, I can easily get 170+ mi on a tank. Having traveled TX many times, I can tell you that there's always been a place to get gas. The key is to get gas even when you don't 'need' it. ;-)

I'm getting a long-term average mpg of 50mpg on my F4. I use it almost exclusively for commuting, and that's country road, highway, and freeway. I always 'lay down' on the tank, because that improved my mpg by a couple mpg. Mpg will drop at a constant 85 vs a constant 70 - 75, IMO/E, but as gotcbr said, not that much. I usually refuel any time I have 170 miles or more on the odometer, but unless something's amok (LOTS of city driving or traffic, or the bike's been sitting and evaporating fuel for a few weeks or something) I can always get over 200 miles on a tank. It's not uncommon for me to run 210+ before refueling. DO NOT TRY TO GO THAT FAR WITHOUT SOMEONE NEARBY THAT CAN BRING YOU FUEL OR TAKE YOU TO THE GAS STATION. Just because my bike runs that far doesn't mean yours will.

Last couple times ive been filling up id get 100 miles a tank STRICTLY city.. and daily commuting.. thats when my gas light goes on and book it to a gas station like right now im creeping on 100 miles about 98 right now.. so ill fill it up when i go for my ride tomorrow.. but eh 100 miles a tank in the city always getting on it in first and 2nd :P not bad i guess.

in town around home= 42-43 mpg

out touring on road trips while going 90 mph on interstate=46-47 mpg

i have noticed when i put more than 8,000 miles or so on a set of spark plugs, my mileage drops by 5 or 6 mpg. manual says change em at 8,000... so keep it tuned and you'll get best mpg.

Wow! How much fuel do you put in once the light comes on?

Raptor5150 09-02-2012 12:54 PM

is that good??? i think i put in about 12 dollars so about.. 3.5ish gallons..

i thought that was bad for what i was doing.. cause i ride like 10 miles+ every day.

im averaging about what.. 35 40 mpg??

im about to go out while the industrial park is empty and try a first power wheelie but i gotta fill up first. Ill report back

filled up with about 3 gallons.. at 98 miles on my trip meter.. so maybe my gas millage is getting better :) no fuel light on this time tho

Well, you and I have very different riding patterns. I show 32 2/3 mpg for you (98 miles/3 gallons). If that was what I got, I'd know I had a hole in my tank! But, like I said, you and I have very different riding patterns.
