The MSF teaches basic safety & riding techniques that are very beneficial, especially to new riders. Take it! You'll thank yourself later.

In Ohio with temps the only restrictions are no night driving, no passenger and no highway.

 

Take the msf course, you learn a lot and it builds your confidence in yourself. We had a guy who had been riding for over 5 years come back and take the one cuz he stopped for a year.

 

Going to attempt the test today and even if i do pass it sign up for the class as well.

Here in illinois the permit lets u drive anywhere at anytime as long as you have another guy riding with u who has his license.

 

That's pretty dumb. It's not like they can correct you from their bike.
In Mass it's simply a figure 8 and you pass.
In CT you can't even take a test anymore. You have to do the MSF in order to get your endorsement.

 

good luck with your test today, tips for weaving through the cones: look straight ahead, dont look down. look at where you want to go and steady throttle control are the keys.

 

What's this test for? In the UK you can't ride a bike on the road without an instructor with you talking to you through an earpiece. If this test is to ride on the road on your own it sounds bloody easy to me. Our test is really complicated and costs a fortune including all the lessons. Set me back 1000 gbp which I think is about $1600 just to get a licence.

 

Damn that's expensive. It costs 20 dollars where I live.

You lucky guys. Wish it was that easy here. I wouldn't be worried about that test I would be laughing all the way to buying a second bike with the money I would have saved.
