Lowering Kits
Hi, I just recently purchased an 01 F4i, I'm 5'3 and having some trouble with my feet reaching the ground at stop lights and such. I can barely balance it on my tip toes and dont feel comfortable at all doing this and was wondering if anybody could help me with some advice. Should I buy a lowering kit, and if so whats the best kind? Also, is there anyway I can manually lower the bike without buying a lowering kit or use this method in addition to a lowering kit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
As far as I know, you'll need lowering links for the back, which aren't too expensive, and the front you can do manually by lowering your triple clamps on your fork tube. How far you should go however I don't know, but lots of people here have lowered their bikes so I'm sure you can find some good info if you dig around a little.

Stellarcbr,
Seeing as how the OP's post was 2.5 yrs ago, I'm sure they've figured it out by now. ;-) |
Glad you mentioned that GotCBR, I was getting ready to recommend our resident expert on short-people problems, Yumon.

Haha, good point. I was just searching around for info on lowering links instead of starting a new thread for the same questions. My bike came lowered and I was looking around to see if it's worth raising it back up since it came with the stock links too. Didn't even think to look at the OP date.

Unless you really need it lowered, I'd recommend raising back to stock settings. Ride it that way for awhile, then adjust the suspension to your liking.

If you were to replace the links, someone 5'6" (like myself) might take them off your hands. PM on it's way to you.

mine was lowered. I brought it back to stock height because I didnt like how limited my cornering was.
