Looking at 99 600 F4, want some advice from currnet owners
I have looked at this bike once before but due to a dead battery I didnt get to hear it start/run. I am going to go see it again, the guy bought a new battery and it is running. What are some specific things I should look for on this bike? Do you guys think the bike is worth $3800 with a scracth in the ferring on the right side down low on the front.
Whats your oppinion about the F4i in comparison to the F4?
Thanks to all in advance.

early F4i bikes apparently have jerky fuel injection whereas the F4 fuels v. smoothly through its carbs. if its got a flat battery you want to check the charging systems ok as regulators/recitifiers can go awol. likewise cam chain rattle, how many miles has it done?

Exactly what highmilage said... and then with any faired bike check the plastics fit properly (can be frustrating) and with any chain drive check to see how soon before it needs new chain/sprockets.
Then take it for a ride... it should be as smooth as silk.

should be able to talk him down some on the price. As you get later in the riding season the price should come down a little. I would ask him to knock it down some for the damage that was caused when it was downed. I bought my 99 at the start of this season for $3,500 and it was in perfect condidtion except the chain needed to be replaced. He was asking 4K for it but I got him to knock off 500 since I was goign to replace the chain and sprockets.

I purchased a 2000 F4 last month. I purchased it from a dealerso of coarse I paid a lil more than first hand. 3,000 miles, not a blemish, and I made them put new tires on it because of flat spots on rear tire. I paid 5,100 tax/title out the door.

i purchased mine for a low price of 2900 with 29,000 miles on it.
it was downed once while being parked in his garage has slight rash on right fairings.. and the neutral switch was busted so my bike only starts when the kickstand is up and i'm holding the clutch in[:'(].. but it runs awesome and i tear up the town on mines!

When I bought my F4 from a my local dealer last year, they wanted $7000CAD just for the bike. It had 20011klm, was bone stock other than a Dark Smoke Lockhart screen, Yoshi RS-3 can and mid, K&N, awefull grips and a fake carbon UFO tank pad. I told the sales manager would go as far as $7500 for the bike, 2 brand new helmet's (HJC cheepies), a brand new Alpinestars riding jacket, administration fees, taxes, everything. The interest was a good rate @ 6.25% for a used bike, and he decided to play ball. I paid quite a bit for it, but I don't care, I love it! The best bike I have ever owned.
