i was thinking about installing a K&N filter on my cbr, i was woundering if it was worth it? does it really help, and is it worth putting on and calibrating everything?

I never really noticed any discernable horsepower gains, but then I've never been on a dyno or tuned it. I do like the fact that it's cleanable and reusable. I've cleaned mine several times over the last 23,000 miles and saved quite a lot of money over buying new Honda filters.

I just replaced my nasty plugs and dropped in a K&N while I was there. Now my bike has much more noticeable top end, like 9000+ and its started to try to wheelie at WOT without trying to. I thought the bike ran great before and was smooth until I put the filter in. Now I see how it REALLY runs and am pleased with the K&N.

I personally switched back to the OEM filter after using the K&N. My bike doesn't seem any faster with the k&n, though it does have a nasty hole in the mid range with it. My throttle response seems better with the oem filter as well. The oem filters do get expensive though...

They say it will make it run lean which in turn can burn up valves,Is it a Full exhaust or a slip on if you have a slip on I wouldn't worry to much about it unless it really pops and backfires when you let off of it. A jet kit is some where around $100 not hard to put just takes time and patients. And then you will probably get to resink the carbs.
