Default Just picked up my F4

Hi, this weekend I finally traded in my Buell for a 2000 F4 in the best color, orange. I love the bike and its already got a D&D, undertail with integratged lights, flush mounted fronts, axle mounted plate, and a brand new $350 Dunlop Sportmax tire. I loved my Buell but it was way to unreliable so I had to go to a Honda. I'll probably be spending a lot of time on here too... I have pics uploaded I'm just trying to get them to work.

Nice bike. I have the same bike in red. I had the D&D exhaust as well, switched to M4 when I got sick of how loud it was! I think you'll like it though!

Sweet bike. Also - if you want to go back to stock with the graphics, about $100 will get the full kit from replicals.

WOW I was looking at buying the stickers from Honda and they were somewhere around $200, so Replicals is not a bad deal. I see you went -1 +2, how did you like that? Was it worth it for the conversion kit?

the kit is just a different chain and sprockets. I went back to stock and don't really notice it too much. Once you are moving it's just a matter of picking a different gear.

It does give #1 and #2 more punch, but it also cuts of the useable speed in those gears. As all the gears are close together, you end up using 3rd instead of 2nd. It also brings the highway Rpms up

If you ride a lot of highway, don't bother. If you want a bit more fun on twisty roads, then consider it. If you do change the sprockets I highly recommend buying a speedohealer for $100 - that will correct the speedometer error.

Ok sounds like I will hold off until summer and I know how I like the stock gearing before I change it. Now I just have to change the oil and wait for warm weather. What do you guys suggest for oil, Honda Syn, AMSOIL? And how much does it take? I really need to get a service manual too.

Service manual would be good to get.

I use synth, but it doesn't much matter. Change the filter and washer each time (cheap) and fill it to the mid point of full/low on the sight gauge. Synth is expensive, and completely unnecessary. I like it... and so I waste the money on it.

As far as how much it takes, a full gallon gives you just a little bit more than enough to flush out some of the old oil a little and still fill it up to the top of the "full" mark on the glass. Personally I just use the Honda brand oil and haven't ever tried synthetic oils.

I as well use synthetic in mine. I have one tooth down on the front sprocket. If you are just looking to joy ride and don't care much about bringing the front end up i would leave it stock. The one down helped me pick the front up but not over kill when i am getting on it. The speedo is off on mine in the higher ranges. Also it messes with your mileage on your bike. Its sad to see it sitting in the snow though. Hopefully you get some warm weather soon to ride. You will really like it.
