Hi everyone, this is my first post and I'm picking up my friend's 2000 f4 with 5000 miles this week. The bike is mint, but he did not winterize it properly. It ran OK when we fired it up, but after the drive home it began leaking fuel and sputtering. I would be willing to guess that the carbs are gummed up from junk fuel over winter, and the floats are sticking. The fuel seems to come from the center of the bike but I can't see with the tank still on. I have not purchased this bike yet, but I am getting it for a deal and want to know what trouble I might run into. I searched for this issue but the results were not conclusive. If you have any other possible ideas I'd appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.

 

I had the same problem with my bike.....I think the float is stuck. It is in the shop currently and will be getting it back next week. Then I will likely know what the problem for sure was.
