Yeah our Hondas are built to last, its one of the best things about our bikes, just remember to keep fresh oil in it, change the tires when they need to, the typical maintainance. Replace brake pades when they need it. Other than that, I hate to say it but people usually drop the bike before it breaks down from riding it.

IMHO I think that 17,000 on an 02 is not alot. I would ask though how hard the bike has been ridden, first owner, maintenence records? Honestly, that is less than 5000 miles a year if you break it down. I got lucky and bought my 2000 with only 1600 miles on it.

From what I have always been told it is all in the maintenence of the bike, and how hard it has been riden. 17k might seem like alot becuase most the bikes I saw when I was looking were hardly driven with 1-5k miles. I have saw many bikes with over 50k miles and still runing strong, just have to keep the maintenence up on them.

A friend of mine have just gone over the 150000 on his 83 CX500 and he's not a kind owner. All engines wear, but if you change the oil and filter at the service intervals (if not more). Then you will have a long an happy life together (gettin kinda misty)
