Look at it this way...
Some people ride their bikes everyday... -> mileage adds up, oil gets changed, tires swapped, brakes done. valves adjusted etc... etc...
Some people have a bike in their garage... -> nothing happens. Nothing gets replaced serviced, it just sits there housing spiders and having gasoline turn into mud in the carbs.
Go with a bike that has been riden and taken care of.
I currently have 38K on my 2000 and it runs like a champ.

I got a 02 CBR F4i with 250 Miles, yes 250 Original Miles.I just bought the Bike from a local dealership that's been trying to sell it for the past 4 years. It had about 35 miles on it when I bought it. I paid $7000 Canadian (about 6000 U.S) for it and I think it was worth every penny.I also got full warrenty from the dealership.

For 8 years I commuted everyday, round trip was 180 klms (bout 112 mls) thats 560 miles a week, 2240 per month, and even with time off for holidays gets to 25000 a year, used to trade my bikes in every two or three years, mainly because my wife accepted this as a good reason to get a new bike, ("Better get rid of it before something goes wrong, and I'm really saving money, blah, blah) and my Credit Union loved to lend me the money, so that a conservative 50000 to 75000 on the speedo. Not counting the week-end rides.
(So I'm retired now, no more reasons to trade up, if my wife walked in now and said "Why don't you buy a new bike" I'd be waiting for the dealer to open up 1st thing in the morning.) But, and I have to stress this, there is nothing wrong with bike I've got, just as there was nothing wrong with 4 or so bikes that I traded (2 where beemers) All where serviced regularly (part of the Warrantee thingo)
I've seen a lot guys totally stuff a bike inside a couple of months, miles don't mean a thing, if the bike sounds & looks good.....You can use the milage for bargaining.
