header gaskets
Hi Guys,
I have a cbr 6 Fx (F4 for us market) and I am in the process of replacing the header pipes with some stainless ones. After much trouble I finally took off all the nuts and some of the stud bolts, and removed the old rusty headers. Now I know that there are some old gaskets in the ports so I grabbed a flat headed screw driver and started removing what I thought was an old gasket but it won’t come off, I went all around the inside of that port and pried the thing off but it’s still stuck in there. Is there anything else that I might be damaging? Or is it normal for old Gaskets to stick that bad? What I pulled is thin (tough) metal with some type of brittle material inside.
What I want to know is whether I am scraping an old gasket or some bits from the port itself?
Appreciate any help or advice. Will try to get some photos of the thing when it’s daylight.
Cheers
Az
