Default Fork swap question.

I just picked up '05 1000rr forks as mine on my F4 are bent and I'm wanting to swap to inverted forks. I understand the whole front end will have to be swapped out but I'm uncertain on a few things so I'm hoping the others who have done it on here can clarify (I've tried searching but don't feel I found my answer.)

Now the forks that I got came with the front axle and the lower triple. Will the lower triple work with the F4 as long as I have the 1000rr top triple as well? Will I need to modify anything to make it fit properly? Or do I need to use the 929/954 triples and steering stem with the 1000rr forks?

Another question is: do I have to use the 1000rr front wheel or am I able to just swap rotors?

Thank you for any help I can get. I just want this swap to go as smooth as possible.

Your 1000 triple should work fine, I'd be more worried about the clip ons fitting. When you mount the 1000rr tree on your bike, you want to make sure that the tree clears the radiator, and that the tree-stops work as intended.

As far as the rim and rotors, you'll have to see if a) the rotor bolt pattern would allow it to physically bolt to it, and then b) does the f4 rim hub relatively the same size to where the rotor will line up with the calipers correctly.

You can have spacers made if need be.

Do you know if the F4 rim will fit the 1000rr forks with the wheel spacers you have? Or are you having some made up for it?

The clip-ons I'll just mount under the top triple with risers. It should fit but I believe the plastics surronding the dash will need to be removed.

And idk I haven't checked about the wheel fitting in the forks. I'm going to be slowly getting parts and piecing things together. I may take apart the forks and swap internals before installing them too. But I'm trying to save money with anything I can.

Oops, should have updated this.

Unfortunately I was never able to. End of October I ended up totaling the bike. I was fine but the bike wasn't. Lady pulled into an intersection I was about to cross when she had a red light. She blocked my path. I stopped but ended up low siding and my bike slid right into the lady's car.

Damn, sorry to hear that, but I'm really glad to hear you're alright!

New bike?
