flooding problems

i have a 2000 f4 i bought about 6 months ago. i brought it home, had it running and then it stalled and would not restart. it would do this, and have kind of an iratic idle. i sent the carbs out to be cleaned and they were supposidly pretty terrible. after putting the carbs on, it actually seems as if the bike dumps more fuel though... my question is, because i checked, if you have the fuel pump in your hand and blow in where the fuel goes in, should you be able to blow through the pump? because i can... and this is making me think that the pump isnt regulating the fuel going into the bike, in turn dumping massive ammounts of fuel ( which ends up in my crankcase, exhaust, and even so much as to get up into my head and come out my valve cover gasket.)

any help would be great

check all the hoses on the air box and carbs that handle air. if they are gone or damaged the bike will fuild at low rpms.
