Default Finally Making A Start On My CBR600FY

Afternoon

Around September/October last year the MOT ran out on my CBR and I knew it wasnt going to pass due to the fork seals leaking. They had been replaced before I bought the bike in 2011 but the stanchions were so badly pitted that they had ripped the new seals apart in a very short space of time.

I parked the bike up in my back garden with the intention of getting it sorted over the winter and having a fresh MOT by spring this year ready for some rides out with friends. Unfortunately life got in the way and I didnt touch the bike again until today! I had decided on a few changes I wanted to make to the bike over the winter and had gathered a few bits I needed for these changes.

So, the intention is to spray the frame black like the standard F Sport frame. I have an F Sport black swingarm to replace the silver one with. I have most of the bits to put the F4i tail on (I still need an undertray). I am then having all the fairings sprayed bright white and having a replacement carbon fibre sticker set made up. There will be a few other carbon fibre bits dotted here and there and hopefully its going to look great when its all done! Oh and I need to replace the fork stanchions of course. Oh and I need two new tyres. I think thats it.

This is what my bike looked like the day I picked it up in August 2011:

This is what it looked like by the time I had finished with it today.

I'm going to order the new stanchions in the next few days and then hopefully get on with sorting everything

I will try and keep this thread updated as and when I do anything.

Cheers

Thanks for all the support guys

The weather has just started to get a bit nicer over here and I'm getting the urge to go out riding! Might have to buy myself a cheap bike so I can at least go out riding until this is all done.

Managed to get myself a new job today earning a whole heap more money. That should hopefully allow me to get it sorted a bit quicker

Yeh I am sure you will see me out and about!

i powder coated my frame and swing are think it cost me bout 100 bucks may think about doing that will last alot longer than any paint and is strong enough to resist any kind of scratching that is if you feel comfortable enough droping out the engine know you need two special parts from honda but it is pretty straight forward and easy enough to do just make sure you have someone there to help you once you free the engine from the frame looks good though and cant wait to see it finished!!

Well I finally made a small bit of progress today in that I have ordered a pair of brand new stanchions to replace my horribly pitted ones! They should be here in the next few days and I can crack on with replacing them.

I'm still saving to have the fairings re sprayed but hopefully it will get done in the not too distant future!
