F4i tail on F4

As others have posted, all the information is out there and available in those links.
I'm currently in the process of collecting parts to do the swap on my bike. Without having actually done it yet, if I can offer any advice with my experiences thus far, it would be this -
1. Make sure you get a straight (01-03) subframe. There's always some available on eBay, but the majority are usually bent or tweaked in some way. I already sent one back because the seller "didn't notice" it was tweaked.
2. You'll obviously need a 01-03 battery tray/undertail. Its worth noting that a lot of them on the used market have been cut/modified for a fender eliminator kit, so that's something else you might need to figure into the equation (buying and fitting a fender eliminator kit).
3. The relocation of the regulator/rectifier, ICM, and the four relays on the right side of the tail:
- The r/r was mounted on the opposite side of the subframe on the 01-03 models. When you go to swap it, only one of the bolt holes will line up, so it might be worth drilling another hole or finding an addition fastening method (the one bolt might hold just fine, but I probably won't take the chance).
- The ICM needs to be relocated, and it seems the most common solution people have done is just putting it on top of the battery. That should suffice just fine.
- The 01-03 battery trays only have two "fins" to hold the relays, while the others have four. So you'll have to find a way to mount the other two relays. I've seen a couple people who have said they just used zip ties and it worked fine for them. I've been experimenting with some simple bracketey pieces you can get from Home Depot, to make brackets for them.
Again, I haven't actually done the swap yet, so take it all with a grain of salt, but I've done a lot of "preliminary work/investigating" so I go into it with a plan for everything, and hopefully don't end up with any surprises.
Good luck, and post your results if you do it. It seems these forums aren't nearly as active as they used to be, but you can never have enough archived information.
