F4 gauges quit working??
So I was just riding my cbr f4 and turned it off. I went to go start it again and noticed that my gas light was on and my bike is full, I also noticed that my tac and speedo don't work.
I have checked all my fuses and they are good. I put 35w HID's in my f4 just last week. When I turn the key on: the green neutral light comes on, the gas light comes on and stays on, the back lights for the gauges work. The brights (lights) come on. The brake lights work and the blinker lights come on.
The speedo doesn't work at all. The tach works to a degree (if I rev the bike high, the tach only moves to about 5000). The gas light stays on. The digital mileage lights up but nothing displays.
PLEASE help me figure out why this has happened. I don't understand why it is "half-way" working. Would a ground wire cause this?

2 things before replacing the gauges.
first, did you start the bike with the starter on its own battery? Because when I had a dead, empty, cannot be charged battery, after I jump started it the gauges went crazy as soon as I disconnected the cables from the car battery.
My second thought is the signal line from the engine which is responsible for the tech and speedo reading. yes, the speed reading is somewhere near the sprocket, and that is why changing the sprocket creates an error in the speed indicated.

Few days ago i installed a 35w HID after that speedometer, odometer, rpm and temp gauge just quit working, so i put the original light back gauges went back to normal (nightime) the next morning the battery was drained, put the bike on 2nd gear pushed hard and started it worked. so i rode the bike for like 30 minutes to recharge the battery. so the battery is fine.(autozone checked the battery its charging fine and good battery) but i discovered that if i disconnect & reconnect the battery the gauges will normal work. but after i shutdown the bike(after riding it for like 20 minutes) and turn the key back to ON same problem the gauges are dead. Hope somebody got a solution on this issue...
You may need to use a relay for the power to the headlights.
What you do is, hook a relay to operate off the old headlight harness wires.
the switching part of the relay goes between a direct run from the battery to the new
headlight. I think the harness can't handle the demands of the new headlight and is
causing your problems.
I seriously doubt that the stator and/or R/R is at issue, although there is a possibility
that they might be.
Hope that helps, Ern
