Default cross threaded sparkplug

hey, im new to the forum and i have a 99f4 600. i changed the plugs out shortly after i boughtmy bike in may(i put them in very carefully with no resistance). bout aweek ago a sparkplug popped out. i tried to replace the plug but it would not seat. turns out the threads are all gone. i am having a hard time finding a helicoil in the right size {10mmx1.0}. does anyone known where i can get one? does anyone have a better solution? has anyone ever had this happen to them before?
help!!

never happened to me on my bike but did on my beetle. Ive heard it before though for our bikes so I know there is a helicoil that will work. Threaded insert is a better solution though. I had to special order the thread inserts for my beetle cuz it also was a strange size.

ouch! your in alot more trouble then you think.Your gonna have to have to pull the motor and Take the head off.It hapened to me already on my gsxr.Once the head is off then you use a hexicoil kit.Advanced auto parts sells a kit for 20$ and the size you need.Instead of paying the shop.I'd pay the 20$ and do it yourself But it involves work..Maybe pay the garage to do it.

Yeah I wouldn't trust the shops work if they didn't remove the head to do this job.

Your cylinder is probably full of aluminum shavings right now...

Removing the sparkplug and then cranking it over is not going to blow metal shavings out. compressed air would be your best bet or a shop vac with a small attachement you could fit down the hole. its too bad the heads are aluminum or you could use a magnet. The proper way to do this is to remove the head, but alot of shops won't do it. Youmay get lucky and all be alright. Then again you may have a timebomb there. Only time will tell. I personally will not use helicoils ever again since I've found thread inserts. Helicoils are temperary fixes, where as thread inserts if installed correctly are permanent.
