haha really? i did not know that. well what else would cause it to suddenly slip in the top gear on the freeway? he said he was riding then all of the sudden the rpms kicked up and the bike started slowing down. he thought the chain broke but really it was fine. Would it be the clutch then?

Well there isn't tranny fluid... kind of. The engine oil is shared with the transmission parts because the tranny/engine case are the same. So when you change the engine oil you are changing the "transmission fluid". If its slipping its more than likely his clutch itself, I would think.

I replaced my clutch last year.
Pretty easy job.
Thats what it definately sounds like to me.

Just hope that it fixes the problem and there is nothing wrong with the tranny itself.

Sounds like the clutch is starting to go. Does it slip in low gears when he gets on it hard?
