Carb removal help

hey there so im trying to remove the carb off of my 99 f4 and im having trouble in not sure if im missing bolts or what but i just cant seem to get it loose i couldnt really find a write up on here so all the help would be appreciated. currently the bike is apart and i have loosened all the clamps on the bottom of the carbs.

Grab ahold of them & pull REALLY hard. Try to pull from the top then the bottom. The rubber intake boots can become very hard & not want to let go of what has been theirs for a while now. If all the clamps are loose...just pull harder.

Until you have followed the service manual procedures thoroughly, you may be increasing your chances of causing damage (I can't stress this enough). Be you are sure you are actually prepared to remove the carbs b/f you proceed. You can be *deliberate* but be sure you are ready to do so beforehand.

Also, chances are you're going to rip/tear those boots. Don't fret too much if you do...it would most likely happen w/a mechanic as well. Spray some wd40 on 'em to loosen 'em up.

Curious... Why are your removing your carbs?...for what purpose?...to clean? Has there been a problem or is this exploratory/etc?

the hardest part is loosening the boot straps. remember where all the hoses go and get a second pair of hands to help.

Absolutely. Its a also a good idea to take pics & label everything that you take off.

there are 4 screws that tighten around the boots. you can access them througha small hole on the side of the frame. if you search for walkthroughs on replacing the CCT or cam chain tensioner you should find steps to remove the carbs but they are a b*tch.

Have you got them off yet?
