Default Bad valve guides?

Hey guys, been working on a 2000 F4 I purchased the other month. It's my first sport bike, and I'm loving it. Runs good enough to pull on my brother's '02 ZX9R Regardless, I do have a smoking issue when the bike is at idle. I was told by a friend that it means I have bad valve guides, but being pretty new to engines I'm not exactly sure what that entails. I searched around a little bit and couldn't find any actual guides, only seals. Would replacing the seals be the fix to that issue?

You could replace just the seals and see if it gets better. But if the guides are worn bad enough, the seals won't last long. Oversized guides are available, but it's probably in you best interest to have an experienced machine shop put them in.
