aftermarket turn signal question
Is it true that when u install an aftermarket turn signal (flush-mount) that AFTERWARDS they dont light up by default? because the stock lights turn on when u start up ur bike. And I've heard that aftermarket lights dont do that, they just simply turn on to 'signal'...thanks guys

RE: aftermarket turn signal question
it all depends what signals you are talking about and what kind you install
the two types of signals are two way and three way.
3 way signals are mostly used for the front and double as running lights, which is why there are three wires: one ground, one constant, and one that makes the signal flash (which is really flashing between on and on-but-brighter)
2 way signals are used for the back or front (if you don't want running lights) and have two wires, a ground and the one that flashes the bulb when the turn signal is activated.
HOWEVER, i believe a lot of manufacturers in the last few years have not been using the turn signals as running lights on their bikes (i.e. the turn signals are 2 way signals front and back... personally i think running lights are silly... if you have a headlight, i don't know why two little orange lights on the side are going to make you anymore visible... but thats just me.). so, if you have a newer bike, just take note as to whether the signals are running lights on the front. i assume they are, as you probably wouldnt be worried about them not lighting up if they didn't light up already.
if you have running lights now and want to keep them, be sure to buy 3 way flush mount signals to keep them as running lights. good luck!
