Yeah no problem, just remember if you paint it black again it will look the way it does now in a short amount of time but powder coat is forever, well almost lol.

Swing arm is 100% done and frame is at about 75%.

One problem with the frame is that the VIN placard will be destroyed if it gets any of the stripper on it, and I'm not confident that masking take will protect it from the aircraft stripper.

Any suggestions on this?

As soon as the frame is done, I can start re-assembly!!!!

Still to do: Clean engine
Clean front suspension/steering components
Disassemble wheels (Get wheels painted Orange) and clean/reassemble
Have tank painted
Clean rear shock
Complete re-assembly and what-ever problems might arise.

I'm looking foward to turning this into a build thread, But I know there are bound to be a few snags durring re-assembly. I'm hoping I have all the help I need right here.

Will post pictures tomarrow of reassembled frame-swingarm-subframe!

I understand your concerns w/ the VIN placard. I say, give it a shot w/ the tape. If it doesn't work/damages it, its not that big of a loss...as its not like a car's VIN plate. You're not required to have that sticker/placard on the bike, as the serial is stamped into the frame at the neck (that's where authorities will look anyway).

I like a good build-thread! Keep it coming.

Thanks guy, I did mask it with a double layer of masking tape and the aircraft stipper didnt booger it up too bad.

Well, progress to report.
Frame, swing-arm and subframe are all togeather, with some extronious shlt I just felt like putting on just to get an over-all idea of what I was gonna wind up with in the end. The bike looks super clean, factory clean. I love it.

Here are some horrible cell-phone pictures of it as it sits right now.

EDIT TO ADD: Fairings are from Drem6625 on Ebay. Excellent finish but just from mounting the tail, the fit could be alot better. The molded in hardware is a different size from OEM, and mounting locations are a little off, not as bad as some of the guys on hear report with other sources though. Just an FYI.

Got my forks cleaned all up, along with the tripple tree's and remounted those. The bottom tripple tree, being made of steel, doesnt clean up very well though.

Also got my controls put back togeather, with new grips and 2 new throttle cables. Still waiting on my bar ends though.

Its about time to start getting this motor looking nice n' clean....

A little update.

Got the front suspension/steering all cleaned up and put back on.

Got the tires pulled off the wheels, looking for a place that can match the orange on my fairings and lay that color on the wheels and tank.

Painting the upper fairing stay and the air ducts today

Will post pictures this evening.

EDIT TO ADD:
Just bought a used F4 tank, for probably less than the cost of paint and stickers on my tank, plus it has grommets that are in good shape.

Also just dropped some coin on some RK stickers for the swing-arm, some Repsol rim stickers and complete fairing/wind-sreen hardware kit.

Still need: New chain (RK; not sure what pitch and amount of links I need)
Turn signals
Single mirror, instead of the EOM side mirrirs I have. (anyone want to trade?)
Clear windscreen: I have a clear and smoke one already, but these things look huge and gawky. I cant find any lower profile screens specificly for an F4. Am I better off just trimming my windscreen and putting some trim around it?

I also need to find some way of keeping my engine in the back of my truck while I clean it up for a few days without the worry of it rolling around back there while I'm driving around. I was thinking of making just a simple brace/mount for it out of 2x4's and strap it in the back of my truck, but I have no idea how practical this would be. I cant clean it up at the site where I'm doing my rebuild, so it has to be in the bed of my truck.
