Default '99 F4 only runs when gravity-fed

Hey all,

New to the forum and I've already been searching around but couldn't find anything about this specific issue. But I'm in need of your help. Got a '99 600F4 from a friend who's afraid of riding because he kissed the pavement once Bike had been sat for a while so I cleaned the carbs (slow jets were completely gunked up).

However, now that it's all back together I just can't seem to get it to run normally. When gravity-fed (disconnect between the fuel pump and carbs, manually dump in some gas), the bike runs like a dream. But once I reconnect everything it just won't run. Sometimes it gives a couple of coughs, but no more. The fuel pump seems to be working normally, as when I fill up the fuel filter with some gas, it sucks it straight through when the ignition is turned on and you can hear/feel the pump do its work. Once the floats go up and the bowls are full, the pump also shuts off like it should, but the bike just won't run.

Is there something I'm not seeing here?
Thanks in advance!

Default Fuel Pump

I had an issue where the fuel pump seemed like it was working, sounded like it was working, but it couldn't actually move the fuel as needed and caused issues when accelerating. It sounded like it was working, but it was just doing something else that was actually it not working. I'd spend the $12 on a new fuel pump just to see if that fixes the issue. Hopefully that's all and you're good to go.
If that doesn't work, you may get into electrical issues with relays, which is another reason I'd rule out the easy fix first!
Good Luck!

Just replaced the point inside of the pump as well and confirmed that the pump keeps pumping when starting, which al works out. Any other tips?
