Exclamation 99' F4 Headlight issue

The issue is in the killswitch, and every time I solder the ground to the headlight the solder falls off. I'm going to assume I'm using the wrong solder, so which solder should I use?
The last attempt killed my killswitch too, so yeah. Let me know

Thanks,
Gith

Let me ask you this;
When you solder the ground, how are you doing it? Are you melting the solder directly to the ground? If so, that could be your issue. It's called a cold solder joint and it wont last.
The process is to heat up the material and then lay the solder onto that surface. The solder will melt onto the surface once it gets hot enough. This forms the proper bond.
Hope that helps.

So what you're saying is with me heating up the solder on the contact then laying the wire on the contact and letting them try to bond is a cold solder? So I'm supposed to heat the ground wire with a soldering gun then lay it on the contact and put solder on top?

Correct on the cold solder explanation.

You should already have the wire on the contact, heating up both of them. Lay the solder on that. When it heats up enough, the solder will flow. It doesn't take much.

I'll try that. We had a real hard time with the solder we were using to get it to hold. Any solder type you recommend for this application so it won't happen again?

Just some small gauge solder should be fine. I wouldn't use the bigger stuff plumbers use. Also you will need some flux.

Make sure your whatever your soldering is very clean. "Tin", i.e... get solder onto the cable before you try to joint.
Any chance of an image of what you've got ?

If you are brand new to soldering, watching a quick video like this should give you some helpful pointers.
I would recommending finding a few more to watch but this will get you pointed in the right direction.
