2000 F4 As a starter bike?
So I went to MSF offered by my Harley Davidson dealer. I found a used 2000 CBR600 F4 for a nice price of around 3500ish and it's negotiable. The owner stated only damage on one fairing panel that he is replacing, but I'd get it inspected anyways. But the real question I have is how powerful is this bike in relation to the supersports of 07 and 08 models? Can this bike be handled by someone fresh out of MSF with a responsible attitude or is it a bike that demands, to some degree, an experience level?

RE: 2000 F4 As a starter bike?
I bought a 99 cbr 600 about 2 months ago as my first bike and I think I've handled it fairly well. The first dozen or so times on it were a bit terrifying but I was never overwhelmed. I agree with the other guys in having to have respect for the bike and realizing that the bike is capable of doing things far beyond your limits. So as long as you take it easy and ride as slow as grandma you won't have any trouble starting out on a 600.

Hello there , well i started off with a 2000 cbr600 f4 about a month ago and im glad i did , i was told to start off with a smaller bike but i knew i would wont a bigger 1 after about 2 - 3 months so i just went with a 600 and im glad i did , its a great bike and has a lot of heart , if you treat the bike right you will be just fine , just start off easy with the bike and do not push it because it does have alot more power then you would think , iv been able to keep up with my firends 900 so just be safe .

I agree with those guys ^^^. Most of it comes down to the riders maturity level. If you have no diesire to ride on one tire for football fields at a time, you'll be fine. If you think your already a professional stunter, thenget a 250 ninja. I started on my f4 2 years ago almost to the day, and am accident and ticket free (knock on wood ). I just took my time and would ony test the bike in small incriments at a time, and only when IKNEW it was safe to do so. The main reason people fail with bigger bikes as starters is they test they're limits (and the bikes') too soon and too often when they're getting started. After 2 years I still haven't found the limits of my bike, and I'm ok with that.

Hello. I started on myCBR 600 F4 and i don't regret. Great bike, has more than enough power for a rookie and handles good. With a slip on you get great sound and a great experience! You can even pull wheelies on 1.gear, and it is a great bike to learn wheelies because it just pulls up nicely and clean and hasn't got to much power to go all the way over.
