2000 CBR 600F4 Chocking
Hi all.
I just bought my F4 this last weekend. Today, coming to work, when i stopped at any sign or even slowed down to 2nd or 1st gear, bike would almost die on me, needed to work that clutch and gas to get it going. Just afraid when it rains might mean a miscalculated burst will throw me to the ground... Seems to happen more frequently after the bike has already done some miles, 2 or 3. After leaving home, it ran just fine from what i could tell. Before leaving, just left it with choke on for about 1 minute while i geared up, and then it idled fine at 1000 rpm. The previous owner had the fuel pump replaced in January, not sure if it could have anything to do with it... Can you drop some hints? I'm not experienced in mechanic or replacing/checking whatever, but as long as you can help me, i will learn it. One day i'll be helping hopefully :) Cheers! |
Hi what does you bike usually idle at ,could just be the throttle stop screw or the pilot screw adjustment, have you got a Workshop manual:)
|
Turn the idle up a little. Try it at 1200.

So...
Little update... Coming home from work, same problem... As soon as im getting home, i stopped just a bit before, and tried turning it off, so i could try and power her on again... but she didn't want too... Didn't even try. Just a tick signaling i was pushing the right button (lol) and nothing else. Can this be a battery problem? Previous owner told me it had a new earlier this year but i don't know... Just worried right now... And answering your questions, when shes working normally, it idles around 1200. When it was with the problem, it was roaming between 1000 and 1500... Cheers |
Can you get the battery off and get it charged up , some of the things you need to do needs your engine running, Download a Manual from here ,that way it will be easier to understand the info coming your way:)

Don't have a battery charger and don't know anyone who does. Only got to the UK couple of months ago :(
Thanks for the Manual! |
Your gonna need one , so you should go for a Charger/Optimiser , they are cheap enough , if you dont ride the bike in the winter you will definitely need one:)

Actually, this morning saw one of my top floor neighbors leaving with an helmet, just ran to him and asked if he had one. He stared at me wondering "who the **** is this guy" as i explained it to him, and he just said "No...
BUT...!!! I can probably borrow one from work later today!" I was getting ready to cry 😂😅🤣 So I'll try and charge it overnight and see how it goes 👍😁 |
