Default 2000 600 Mod

I have a 2000 cbr 600 f4. I was looking to do some easy modifications to increase horsepower and so on. I don't really know where to start. Wanted to get an idea, sprockets, carbs, jetting.? And also one MAJOR question can you hook up a 25lbs of boost to a bike thats carborated. I know the direct injected ones can handle nitrous but can mine...?!! Thanks

Just wondering... wouldnt it be easier / cheaper to just sell your 600 and buy a 900+?

25lbs of boost.

boost implies you're talking about a turbo which in that case I highly doubt the stock motor could handle 25psi...that's pretty high.

if you're talking about a 25HP shot of nitrous then I don't see why you couldn't have a plate of sorts made to fit between the carbs and the head to inject it but I just think it would be too much work really.

Too much work for a 25 shot. Go big or go home!

I've seen holes drilled in the velocity stacks where NOS was hooked up on some drag bikes, so NOS is possible. I doubt you would ever need it, but to each there own. you can sproket it to get more top end speed or more low end torque. To get any real HP increases though you would have to port and polish the head and tune and time it. really when you get into all that it would be cheaper to spring for the litre bike.

Well the turbo idea as well as the nitrous gas ideas are possible. Just keep in mind the type of reinforcement that is required by an upgrade where you make that much modification to the engine that is, well somewhat major. You need to consider all the critical engine parts involved, and how that type of modification effects the OEM engine parts with however much wear and tear. Try if you want, but think about everything and how much you want to put into it.

Besides that idea, start at the most common upgrades that are fairly routine and are typical jump off points. New high flow airfilter, change sprocket ratio for torque, sync/jet carbs, high flow exhaust, lots of new hoses and good coolant, and just lots of little modifcations that increase the efficiency of the engine. The colder the engine runs, with lots of air flow, the better off. Spark plugs, wires, just whatever possible. Hell, throw in a modified shift with a new detent star, and so forth. If it was injected its always nice with fuel mapping and power comander setups, but not with the F4.

Start small, and if you run out of ideas, then go radical. But just my recomendations, you do what you want.

Peace
