2 things: scratched gauges and rear lock
Hey guys, I picked up a 99 F4 a few weeks ago and have just been enjoying riding it and not really worrying about all the minor flaws yet. But eventually I'm going to need to address them. The clear plastic that covers the speedometer is so scratches up I can only see it at night. It looks like someone took a knife or something to it. Not just regular everyday scratches. I was hoping the clear plastic cover would be a seperate part but I don't think it is. Anyone know? I hate to have to buy a whole dash when mine is fine otherwise. Or any ideas? I can't think of any way to replace the plastic w/o it looking all ghetto or cheap.
Another thing thats bugging me now is that the seat lock is missing some parts. It's got the key switch, the braided line and a piece on the end of that line that looks liek the latch but it is just hanging under the seat. It's not bolted to the metal frame and doesn't have a bracket or anything on it to bolt it to the frame. I'm not sure how the original looks and I can't find a picture of the underseat to tell. I looked at the service manual but its so grainy that I can't see the details and Bike Bandit shows the entire thing, but its $35-40.

Haha, I saw the picture unless there was more than one. I saw the IMG_0889.jpg. Looks like I can see the part I am missing. Unfortunately, like I was afraid of, the little part I need is part of the $30+ assembly so I have to buy the whole thing. $30 isn't too bad but still thats a lot to lock a seat I don't even need to lock. I don't keep anything under the seat.
