Default '00 F4 slower than '99?

This link was posted in another thread:

According to this, the '99 completely outperforms the 2000... is that really the case?

Yes it is true. The F4's that were manafactured after the mid 99(some 00 f4's were manafactuered mid 99 but werent sold until the 00 season check frame sticker)were quicker than the late 00 f4's.I read it was mainly in the mid range.I was told it was because they were coming out with the F4I's in 01 that had a less mid range power than early f4's so they detuned the timing on late f4s to even it out.

Haha, yeah...Honda puts all that effort into getting all the power they can then just *de-tune* the bike for some lame-a$$ reason?

Not likely

There is no quicker catagory the reason the numbers are off is because they were read on different dynos and ran by different riders. You are dumb to believe that honda would "de-tune" bikes. The bikes are the same engine/frame/suspension/bike so they are the same speed.

well before hearing this one... i have also heard that they "de-tuned" the 04+ f4i ... meaning the split seat ones were faster than the banana ones because they wanted performance gap between the 600rr and f4i to be wider...

i dont believe any of this untill i see facts...

I figured it was probably the test and not the bike.

You'd think they'd redo the test... those stats take a pretty big dive for a bike that is supposed to be the same as the '99.
