Default What oil are you using in your F3?

i about to change the oil in my F3 for the first time since ive owned it. i have been out of the bike scene for a couple of years so i would like to see what brand everyone was using and maybe why?? Trying to decided what oil to go with here.

Suggestions?

It's more important to change the oil on a regular basis than what brand you use.

The only caveat to that statement...avoid any of the synths with Teflon additives,
specific to cars. Motorcycles use a wet clutch, sharing the oil with the engine,
automobiles use a dry clutch or a separate transmission fluid.
Use of an oil with any 'slippery' additives will cause issues with clutch engagement.

The most popular brands are Rotel, Royal Purple, Honda OEM, etc, etc.
My personal choice is Castrol.

no its just the first time its needed changed since i have owned havent had it very long. Are you using a castrol synthetic off the shelf or one just for motorcycle engines?

Whatever brand you choose, make sure its motorcycle oil. It needs to be JASO-MA approved. Most car oils are not, with the exception of a few diesel oils like rotella. Do not use car oil!

Well popular ones I've seen used is Amsoil, Shell Rotella T and T6, Motul.

I use Shell Rotella T 15W40. Gonna try out T6 5W40 next time and see what I like better for shifting etc.
