what else to replace

gonna tear eva down as soon as it gets a bit warmer to detail her, measure valve clearances, tighten up my cct, cheap carb clean with seafoam most likely (maybe pull em off and actually clean them and sync if i feel up to it), and do an oil change. i think that's all that's on my list right now... would you guys do anything else while she's torn down?

oh and will i need a new valve cover gasket?

the valve cover gasket is reusable. i believe it even says it right on the side of the gasket, do not replace or somthing to that effect.

Replace steering stem bearings :)

i haven't noticed any sort of grittiness or problems with mine... i will at least take a good look at them.

speaking of steering, the stabilizers for f3's are like super rare aren't they?

one more question... how long should it take to warm up? i hit the choke until it revs to 3k and then let it sit for a few minutes usually. even after that and some riding it barely reads anything, if at all. thinking i probably need a new thermostat. sound like it to anyone else?

once its of the choke its ready to go..... i wait few more minutes as well after the choke is off.
my bike doesnt even go past the 1/8 of the gauge (about 80MPH). it sits on the bottom, but the weather here is fairly cool (34*F today)

csp Mar 15, 2011 01:17 AM

really? i was under the impression it was supposed to read in the middle? it bugs me because i don't want to blow a head gasket beating on a cold engine...

My gauge also is not reading. Its hard to tell if it is the cold weather, or if its not getting a signal or what. Everything seems to be hooked up.
