Weird, Weird, Weird. Dipstick

Got home this arvo & decided to check my oil, only did an oil change not so long ago but you never know. Anyway went to try & undo the bloody dip stick & the bugger has been hard to shift before, but this time I ended up having to use a large adjustable spanner just to get the thing to move. Thought to myself I must have cross threaded last time. Got the thing out, no, the threads are perfect. Had a look inside the internal threads (not that it could have done any damage as the dip stick threads are plastic) No problems with that either.
So checked the oil & went to screw the dip stick back in & it's like it's from another bike, 2-3 turns & the thing is getting tight!!. (even put a small dab of oil round the threads. Now I've removed the dip stick in the past 12 years dozens of times & have always been careful in replacing it back. Its not like some of those old plastic dipsticks where the top fits into the cap & can turn, this thing (apart from the metal band) is one solid piece. P*ss*d off as put a small mark on the bloody casing getting the f*ck*r out :( Going to order a new one, but weird stuff.
The only think I can think of is, does the plastic expands with age or something? Anyone else out there experienced this phenomenon.

Ok, since I re tightened the thing, having to use an adjustable spanner, left it for a couple of hours, undid & can now re tighten it by hand? Bike was not real hot when I got it home or anything & besides I've checked it before after a days ride without worries, got me stuffed :(?

the bike isn't hot but I bet the oil was. maybe the plastic expanded alittle bit,,,:icon_shrug:

could be the case was not and expanded which caused the hole to shrink a tiny bit along with the plastic expanding it could happen i suppose.

It doesn't take much heat to make the dipstick pretty hard to get out. My F2's wouldn't come out without a fight unless the bike was completely cold, like overnight. When cold, it always came out no issues.
