Way out of my league technical question plz help.

So I have been looking into a replacement gauge since my trail tech went out. Not a ton of options, not a ton of info to help coax me into making a decision. I would love to put a vintage Cafe style tach/speedo on my bike but have not the slightest clue what the "ratio" for the 98 F3 would be. My question aside from the ratio and such is; is it possible to take the stock Gauge cluster and remove the actual components out of their housing and put into a different bezel/speedo housing so that I can use the stock sensor and wiring? Anyone who may be able to shed some light on this please help inform me I would greatly appreciate it.

Normally they include the process to input the correct ratio to the speedo in the manual that comes with the part. Some use the vertical measure of wheel/tire height, which is twice the radius of the circle.

dead thread, bumping. still interested if I can remove part of the speedo from the "board" theyre mounted to ie; removing just the tach and mount it to a new housing/bezel?

the only issue you'd run into, is the speedo circuit board is larger than the gauge face, shouldnt have much issue with the tach though.
i was going to upload a pic to show you, but photobucket isnt cooperating right now.

Wow I didn't expect that. I'm not too worried about the speedo. The circuit board isn't too much of a worry for me, I may try to incorporate it into a housing of some sort with my trail tech vector. So, it's definitely possible..
