Default Valve adjustment at 16 K . Advice needed.

My cbr just past its 16k mark on the clocks and as far as i know valves need to be checked and adjusted. I owned bikes before and had it done myself with no problem. But cbrs don't have adjusting screws, honda decided to go with shims instead. So i just wanted to know if i check my valves with the feeler gage and the gaps are off where do i get this shims from? If someone has some advice on the whole valve adjustment thing as well i'll be very greatfull. Cheers.

When mine has done 16k I think I will take it to the dealers and let them worry about it, would be interesting to get an answer though, someone must know.

Sorry mate, don't trust dealers. Always did all the jobs myself. Just every now and then run into one of this problems. Not knowing where to the part. The job itself isn't to big or hard. Just have to be a bit more careful comparing to changing the brake pads ;-) cheers.

shims from Hot cams....way cheaper than OEM...though you need to buy a large assortment, if you have more than 5 or 6 valves out, it will work out cheaper.

I have a pretty good assortment built up myself.

I need to do the valve adjustment on my wifes F3 as well. The post that LlanoSV put up was great. It explained a lot. I agree withyou that I don't trust dealers. I don't think that anyone will do as good a job as you would do yourself. This is certainly a job that can be done and save money for more important things. land_warrior.rus, do you have a time frame of when you're going to be doing this on yours ? Just curious.
