Ugh.. bike dying after heating up
So my bike runs great for short to medium trips. However, it seems that the longer I go and give the bike more time to heat up overall, it decides to start dying randomly and not wanting to start back up.
This happened yesterday, and before it started to happen I noticed that the bike was putting off a lot of heat, like to the point of discomfort on my legs. However I dont believe the temp gauge indicated anything above average.
Luckily I was with a buddy and he had to push me so I could jump it. It would push start just fine, but my RPMs would take a dive pretty easily. Its worth noting that it would *not* start by itself. It sounded like the battery was weak (starter not sounding like it should). But the battery couldn't have been that weak as I had just been riding for a while and actually fully charged it on my trickle charger about a week ago. After being push started again (lol) I just kept my choke on to keep the RPMs up and made it home fine.
So, to the point of the story. After being push started to get back home, upon leaving I noticed a kind of burning smell... electrical/plastic type smell. Immediately I think R/R? I haven't checked it out yet because it was about to rain when I got home so I covered it and left my frustrations behind. I dont know a whole lot about bikes, but I do know I read about the R/R on here all the time.
So what do you guys think? Could my problem be R/R related? Should I investigate it further? Is there something else that would cause the bike to randomly want to die only after heated up? A medium trip the other day it died a few times while riding. I want to say that sometimes it happens during heavier braking? Like ill use a little engine brake and then start to apply the brake and when I go to pull in the clutch obviously the RPMs start dropping, but just drop all the way to death.
Hope I explained it somewhat well. More info if needed.
Its a 98 F3 incase the signature didn't catch your attention.

Very possible. Sounds like the battery isnt getting any charge and thats why it wont start under its own power. These bikes run off the battery constantly unlike a car that runs off the alternator once started. so if your battery has enough voltage it can run the bike for short periods of time until its out. buty as starting requires more voltage and amperage the battery wouldnt hold enough to crank it over.

Based on your pictures, I think my R/R is already aftermarket. Is it known to go out...again?
Im gonna go check it out here in a minute and see if I cant diagnose an issue with it, and will come back with pictures. I do not have a multimeter or anything of the sort, so i'm pretty much just gonna look for something burnt. Maybe the wires need re-doing?
