Turn signal tail light?

Yea, sure it can be done. One method would involve installing a couple of small relays inline with the bulbs of the tail light. You'd use the signal from the turn signal circuit to control each relay individually. By wiring the tail light bulb to the normally closed sides of the relay contacts, everytime the relay was told to turn on (the blinker signal), the normally closed contacts of the relay would open, which in turn would turn off the individual tail light bulb. You'd have to figure out how by trial and error if you'd need to add any resistor to the turn signal circuit so that the relay would draw enough current to get the blink rate correct. The blinker circuit expects to have a bulb attached to it, not the coil of a relay. Those two items would draw different amounts of current, so the blink speed would be different.
Another method would be to move the blinker bulbs into the outside edges of the tail light. I understand that there is a fair amount of light bleed through from the outside edges so it's not as clean as it could be.
Just some thoughts. I suspect there are aftermarket kits available as well.

I guess the rains got us inside dreaming of riding. Thanks for the reply. Im liking the second idea of having them mounted to the out side of the tail light. wonder how hard it would be to channel the light to the gaps via plexiglass or maybe a series of clear rods. Gonna go see whats in the ol shed and go from there. Looks like no riding today so might as well work on it.

Or, if you want to pick it up, Autozone sells those trailer wiring (2 stop/2 sigal to Combined Stop/Signal) converter boxes for $10-$15, same thing the ebay guy is selling.
