Well when Start from a dead stop. I have a problem with shifting up into second gear. I dont have any problem shifting up or down into any gear beside shifting up into second gear. When I do about half of the time it will make a few fast clicks and it will either go into second gear or pop down into neutral. I dont think it isfrom bad shiftingbecauseI dont have any problem with anyother gear. I do have the clutch in andI am notgiving gas. I fear that second gear is going out. What do you guys think about this?

Yeah, try mashing it in good and hard. I sometimes have mine jump into false neutrals or the going back into neutral on my way to second thing. Mind you, this is my second engine and both shift pretty much the same. I have noticed that it completely goes away when I'm riding with boots instead of soft tennis shoes though... Shift like you mean it.

Here's the problem. I just got finished doing mine. The dogs on 2nd gear are probably worn. The Shift drum may also be worn, and the the shift fork gets worn from rubbing on 2nd gear. All these things together allow it to pop out of gear. Mine started with just popping out of 2nd gear every now and then to not being able to use 2nd at all.
To fix it you have to drop the engine, split the cases. You can leave the top end together. You don't even have to untighten the cam chain. Pull the top half off maing sure you keep the crank with the top half. This opens up the trans and you pull it apart and change your parts. Its not particulary difficult, make sure you have a torque wrench and liquid gasket maker. My problem is now my carbs are messed up and its running realy lean, but thats my luck. Good Luck getting her fixed.
