Throttle Sticks
 

First started to notice this problem this season. When I twist the throttle and let go of the handle completely it won't snap back, it starts moving very slowly then when it gets to a point it goes back a little quicker. There is no problem while riding, I can't even notice it when my hand is on the throttle, as I just move it back myself. I was just thinking if I ever lost control at some speed, the bike would keep powering itself down the road.

So do i just have some sticking throttle cables? Or what else might be your ideas?

Not sure why I didn't search before I made this, but I think I just found some possible solutions, sorry about that

either your throttle cables arent sliding smoothly...or your throttle return cable isnt tight enough...take off your tank,and maybe airbox i dont remember if the airbox is necessary to get to the adjustments...then just play around with those until it snaps back smoothly..if it never gets smooth then your cables are probably rusted or something...let me know if you need cables cause i have an extra set.

i have an f3 and f2 the both have this problem. i think that they're just old.

I used to have this problem, but not anymore. If you take the cables off the carbs, and they move relatively freely, they are good...if it takes a lot of effort to move them then they are bad....doesnt matter if the bike is old or not this can be fixed

I had this similar problem just a few weeks backs.

When I had the tank and airbox off, I did make some adjustment to the throttle cables and I sprayed them with wd-40/liquid wrench in that area..

I then sprayed some under the white throttle tube after taking apart the plastic assembly containing the starter button and engine stop (a few screws). Just sprayed some underneath the tube while sliding the grip to the right just 1/8' or so. This absolutely CURED the slow closing of the throttle!

i had that problem once on my first bike a 99 ninja 250 and i used wd40 also, it worked pretty good.

just tried a little wd40 and looks like it did the trick, thanks guys

you also should take some time and lube the throttle cables proper so they dont develop a sticking condition. its just for the peace of mind overall really.
