Temp Gauge.

My temp gauge does not work, so i can not tell how hot the bike is getting.
i was wondering what would be a common reason for it to not work.

all my other gauges work fine.
any help/ideas would be great

RE: Temp Gauge.

my temp gage doesn't work eather all i did was make a switch for the fan so i can turn it on when ever i wanted to ( in trafic, or on hot days ) so far so good i don't know what temp my motor is but so far it hasn't over heated. for your problem the senser just might have gone bad that is what i think mine is i jsut haven't had the time to fix it. a good test is get to the senser ground out the wire that goes from it and if the neatle goes strate up then the gage is good and your senser is bad. just only ground it out just long enuff to see the neddle go up and no longer. just FYI i got that from the reapir manual maybe it will help. good luck.

thanks.

what did you have to do to be able to make a switch for the fan?

also, i have heard about people that set it up so that the fan is always on.
i live in FL and was thinking that could be a decent solution too.

Common reasons for the fan to not work.

Blown fuse,

Dissconnected wire, have you had the bike apart lately and did not reconnect the wire.

Bad fan motor.

Bad fan sensor switch.

Stuck open thermostat not letting the bike warm up enough to run the fan.

I would check your fuse first, then check your wire connection at the sensor/fan.

If that does not work I would then test the fan to make sure it's not toast.

If the fan works then I would replace the sensor/switch.
