Stripped plug hole
Well my #2 spark plug kept coming out and it turns out that the thread on the head is stripped.
Dealer said the head needs to come off so that's $$$. I took the bike home and I would like some insight from you guys. Thanks! |
RE: Stripped plug hole
Seems like you need to use a torque wrench and set it at 11lbs next time you put spark plugs in.
I don't know what insight your looking for other than who worked on your spark plugs last and don't lie. And your pretty much ass out because spark plugs are specifically made for each head to clear the piston from hitting it. If you were to rethread the whole bigger, you would need a wider spark plug with the same length of the diode or whatever its called. |
RE: Stripped plug hole
Taking some knowledge from some other motors i have studied and similar problems with chewed threads....you need a timesert http://www.timesert.com/
Back when i had my caddy...our northstar motors were notorious for blowing head gaskets at 100,xxx miles...the head bolts would be timesert'd after the whole process...they are supposed to be better than helicoils...if you cannot rethread the hole because it's too messed up....get yourself the correct timesert kit and go at it |
RE: Stripped plug hole
ive helicoiled a few dirt bikes and snowmobiles. seemed to work fine
