Sprocket/chain ???
I have a #245A Vortex rear sprocket that is shot, which is for a 520 chain. The chain has no numbers on it, how do I tell what pitch it is? Is it possible the PO changed the sprocket but not chain? In otherwords will a 530 chain run on a 520 sprocket? My son (Larry) just got a new tire and I know he wants to get out on it.
Sorry for the noob question, I'm just the wrench  Pins are 9/16"-15mm OC, plates 1/4" -7mm apart, rollers are3/8"-9mm dia. Hope this helps |
excuse the crazy background color:
But essentially a 520 chain will fit a 520 sprocket, and a 530 will only fit a 530 sprocket. Changing either will cause the chain to not align to the sprocket. Hope that helps. |
In my opinion I would just buy a chain and sprocket kit. Imo aluminum sprockets are too soft to handle the type of abuse they go through.

Didn't realize "crazy background" was a linc :icon_doh:. Agree on the alum sprocket, never seen one look that bad. Don't know if the kid has the coin for a full set right now. :icon_shrug:
Thanks for the help. |
